| Resume |
By basing ourselves on the corpus of the advertising billboards viewed both as speeches produced by the marketing companies and as significant marking of youth practices, we showed that the term “youth language” becomes problematic since it is considered that this purely socio-demographic categorization dissimulates an even ethnic social question. The rate of the decrease of these practices for the moment, shows only little decline, and it is difficult to predict how the youths will speak once they grow into adulthood and are better integrated into social situation, just as it is difficult to find out if some of their uses will end up being essential in the common language as in the advertisements collected in the corpus. We prove that the expression “youth language” is an overstatement because it seems to be evident that belonging to a social group has always implied a certain way of expressing oneself, and using that term means refuting the evidence of a lexical fluidity or even discursive flow between generations. We retain, the concept of linguistic practice that we keep seems to be characteristic of youth speeches. |
