Resume Abstract: We’ve undertaken that study on Horizontes’ books with a pedagogical approach, not especially in a linguistic viewpoint, because of controversies about those teaching tools. So we planned to set the record straight and make a national’s balance of the implement of those manuals from 2007 to 2020. To carry out this work, we holded an investigation on the aforementioned polemic and consulted referential normative documents. Then, we analyzed the data collected with objective, comparative methods, matched with analysis’ technics of contexts and contents. It turned out of our research that Horizontes are available pedagogical resources whose sections enable to teach and learn speaking and writing communication in Spanish for school assessment situations in particular, and for life’ situations in general. Though, many secondary teachers confessed that they are fed up of using those manuals because they last long and can’t go on any longer, to avoid routine vices. Horizontes don’t provide texts and iconographic supports to exploit for Benin typically socio-cultural and economic studies. Horizontes don’t include audiovisual hardware for play audiovisual classes that foreign language learners enjoy so much. Up to a point, if we have been using these manuals for thirteen years and if we plan to change them, above all, because they are revealed culturally less inclusive in comparison with Benin typical realities, it is not less true that these manuals are not anachronistic, so that we can continue using them for teaching Spanish in our country, according to competences approach, until we produce something better prepared to change that sub regional didactic manual.
